"Discovering our Treasure:  God-given resources"

The heart of NLP is looking at how to we access the resources that God has given us?  We often don’t find the resources easily accessible.  Learning the neurological process so that we access resource.  Some resources we will be exploring will include:  love, patience, safety, learnings, understanding, curiosity, assertiveness, confidence, peace, rapport, and forgiveness, just to name a few.

October 27, 1993

"Anchors Away"

We discussed the triggers or “anchors” that induce certain states of depression, anxiety, and anger.  Most problems can be seen as getting into stuck or unresourceful states.  We discussed the anchors the get us into these states.  We looked at the use of anchors throughout the New and Old Testaments and how they can assist our spiritual walk.

"What do I want?”

We dealt with our needs and wants through the process of "Outcome Framing."  Many of us are not skilled at knowing what we really want.  We go after things that are not good for us and “miss the mark.”  By discovering what need lies behind the troublesome behavior we can honestly move away from it and begin to move in a healthier direction.

November 10, 1993

"Isn't there any gray?"

Rigidity of thinking and inflexibility are often the culprits that get us into trouble.  Freedom from rigidity does not mean lowering standards or compromising on truth, but does help us see options and deal with people in a more loving way.  The technique of "Partswork" was demonstrated and taught to help people deal with inner conflicts.

November 15, 1993

"Boundaries, Walls, and Free-for-alls."

Boundaries are what give us a sense of self.  We will look at boundaries:  physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. We will look at the function of boundaries and how we establish them.  We will discuss the difference between boundaries and limits.  The technique of "Changing Perceptual Positions" was demonstrated and the participants were able to participate in the exercise.

November 17, 1993

"Regaining our Maps"

Our maps are internal representations of the world.  Oftentimes, we confuse with what we “think” with was “is.”  In essence, we are at the mercy of our maps.  Codependency blocks us from knowing what we feel, see, hear and think.  In contrast, it causes us to judge, think about, “feel for” and fix others.
